A Hertfordshire Highways spokesman said: “A section of the road surface by the roundabout will be planed off and replaced.

The remainder of the road between the High Street and the county boundary will be repaired, with cracks in the surface repaired and failed trenches restored.

Box Lane will also be closed for patching within the next few months.
