Changes to your waste collection this November

Changes to your waste collection this November

You should have had a leaflet through your door in the first two weeks of August about the new Recycle for Dacorum waste collection service. The leaflet will give more information on the planned changes as well as dates and locations of the local roadshow events. You can view the pdf fileRecycle for Dacorum leaflet online now.

The new Recycle for Dacorum (R4D) service starting from 24 November 2014 will make it easier for you to recycle more.
A blue lidded wheeled bin, green wheeled bin and grey wheeled bin and a green kerbside caddy
Your new service will include:

  • A new blue lidded wheeled bin for all your recycling (paper, plastic, tins, cans and glass) and now cardboard will be collected together in one new wheeled bin every two weeks. You will also be able to recycle food and drinks cartons like Tetra Pak for the first time. .
  • A new kerbside caddy for all food waste will be collected weekly at the kerbside.
  • The existing green wheeled bin will be for garden waste only and will be collected every two weeks from February to November.
  • Waste that can’t be recycled will be collected every two weeks in your grey wheeled bin as it is now.

The new blue lidded wheeled bin for mixed recycling will sit in place of your recycling boxes as they will no longer be needed. We will collect and recycle your old boxes once the changes are in place.

From the end of August to mid October we will be touring the borough with our exhibition vehicle, both on weekdays and weekends, to give you an opportunity to see the new bins, ask questions, take part in competitions to win fantastic prizes including dinner for two at The Grove or a spa evening at Champneys. View the full list of pdf file R4D roadshow dates (374KB).

This change applies to waste collections from houses. If you live in a flat your waste collection will not change until 2015. We will provide you with more details about changes for flats in due course.

If you are currently on a sack collection we will be assessing your property to see what type of recycling service (sacks or wheeled bins) will be most suitable in the future. Please do not worry if you are not at home when our Recycling Advisors visit as they will leave a letter explaining the service you will receive from 24 November.

Tesco vs Coop Rumours

Tesco vs Coop Rumours

Is it possible Tesco are not keen on developing the flats and supermarket anymore. The supermarket chain won planning permission for a store and eight flats on the corner of High Street and Chesham Road in 2010 despite widespread opposition from villagers but rumoured now have put in planning for the store only and leaving it to us to descide its fate? Haven’t seen the planning app though.

Planning permission ran out at the end of February last year and the supermarket giant successfully applied to Dacorum Borough Council for more time to create the express store. It said it intends to start work in the spring.

Coop and ChippyDoes this now open the door for the Coop to expand and maybe buy the chip shop next door?

Anyone else noticed the market has moved? Could they be about to use the full runway for some other event?
